UIMA and the Semantic Web
The Register: IBM is open sourcing a jointly developed search architecture with a view to creating a common industry approach to querying unstructured enterprise data. I was just last week at IBM research in a meeting learning more about UIMA support for the Semantic Web and this morning I see this great announcement. I have not directly played with it, but you may download it at alphaWorks. Of course, if you don’t know what UIMA is, check out the homepage which says: In analyzing unstructured content, UIM applications make use of a variety of analysis technologies including:- statistical and rule-based Natural Language Processing (NLP),
- Information Retrieval (IR),
- machine learning,
- ontologies, and
- automated reasoning.
