hCalendar + Google Calendar Reminders
Everyone is talking about Google Calendar today. I was supposed to be beta-beta testing it and have been thinking how to integrate with my
Calendar+SPARQL work. However, the beta-beta time expired and I never did anything with it. The ideas were along the lines of:
- Converting SPARQL queries into iCal and import them into Google Calendar.
- Creating a GreaseMonkey script to add results from SPARQL queries directly into their UI.
- Revamping the SPARQL Calendar Demo to include Calendars by Gmail address.
- Creating an XSLT stylesheet to convert Google Calendar’s Atom format to RDF.
However, none of those got done, but today after
following a link from
DanC and finding some ugly instructions on how to add a reminder button to events on your site, I decided to write a simpler
Grease Monkey script. Basically, all you have to do is use my script and whenever the page contains an
hCalendar microformat, it will add a little clock icon with a link to a Google service to add the event to your calendar. Neat. Unfortunately, their service is down on and off today, but it should be
working soon. For now, you’ll only see the link and when you click on it you’ll get a “Service is down” page.
Install
“Convert hCalendar to Google Calendar” greasemonkey script.
