Why I don’t like to infer semantics from tags
del.icio.us is a popular referring source to my weblog. I noticed quickly that one of the tags being used was ‘
queso‘ for obvious reasons. Silly me to think that since most of the del.icio.us audience is technical in body and mind, the
queso tag would have not been used until now. Even sillier me to not think (since I’m mainly a spanish speaker, even at work) that the
queso tag would have been used to discuss recipes containing the cheese ingredient. Anyways as you may see, today the
queso tag has a new meaning, it means a new breed of application servers: a
SWeb 2.0 server. This is a concrete reason for me to not overload tags/tagging with “semantics” and use them mostly in practical scenarios like del.icio.us when mixing a J2EE server and cooking recipes is really not that important to the business.
