Windows Live Writer

I am writing this post using Writer and I must say the team deserves a big pad on the back. The initial blog setup was easy and flaweless. All I had to do was enter my homepage, username and password and it did the rest. I must say that for a piece of Microsoft software, they must have taken open source software and other blogging providers very seriously to work that well. Their insert link dialog shows an interesting addition: a relationship dropdown (@rel). I even accidently hit the publish button, duh! Their preview is awesome, it works transparently with my WordPress template. The only missing feature is Atom support, but the spec is not final and not many providers support the Atom protocol anyways, so I will give them a break. I have never been a fan of blog editors and I was fine with my good ol’ textarea in WordPress but I will definitely give it a try.
